IDLS membership is free for Individual documentarians*.

Individual documentarians receive:

  • unlimited free documentary listings and links
  • a free professional web page - where you can provide a professional biography, self-distribution information, a explanation of your professional services, and contact information - and there is room for an image

Organization Membership

Membership in IDLS is free for non-profit organizations*.

We ask other, "for-profit" groups to pay a small annual membership fee. Right now we are waiving fees for the first year of membership

Organizational members receive:

  • unlimited documentary listings and links
    • free for non-profit organizations
    • for other groups, annual membership fee is based on the number of documentary links
  • a professional web page - with room for history of the organization, distribution information, an explanation of professional services offered, and contact information - and an image
    • free for non-profit organizations
    • at this time we are waiving the standard $250 one-time set up fee for other organization

What is a "non-profit organization"?

Any organization founded to support a charitable purpose and not in business to make a profit.  Other non-profits include groups that don't have private ownership, where it is not legally possible for the profits or equity of the organization to be distributed to private parties, including stockholders.

Most non-profits are recognized as such by a specific government agency.  In the U.S. the IRS grants a special "charitable" status to many non-profits, enabling them to take tax-deductible contributions - for example, 501(c)(3) organizations.
