year free for for-profits
Other organizations,
"for-profits", are asked to pay an annual membership
fee, based on the number of documentary listings linked to
their organization's professional listing.
Right now the first
year of membership is free
Join and pay no membership fees for the first 12 months of
your membership.

the number of documentary listings containing a link to an organization's
group listing.

When does a non-profit organization or individual
documentarian have to pay?
Individual documentarians and non-profit organizations
are asked to pay annual membership fees when the web address
in the IDLS contains a direct, or two-step link to a commercial
web site**, for example:
- a direct
link would be the use of a commercial distribution company's
url in an IDLS listing
- a two-step
link would occur when a member's web site contains a link
to a commercial distribution company like Amazon.com
In either case, before the link can be displayed
in IDLS listings, we require that the for-profit group join
the IDLS or the IDLS member can pay an annual membership fee
as would a for-profit organization.
** A commercial web site is any web
site owned by a for-profit organization, or run as a taxable
subsidiary of a non-profit organization.
